Bradley Weekly Newsletter

Principal Update

We hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the abruptly changing seasons. As we move into a time of colder weather, please be aware that Denver Public Schools (DPS) may call for a Delayed Start or a School Closure. Here are the key details to keep in mind:

  • Delayed Start: If a Delayed Start occurs, our start time will be delayed by 2 hours.
    • Front doors open: 9:25 AM
    • Late bell: 9:40 AM
    • Release time remains the same at 2:40 PM.
  • Stay Informed: For real-time updates about Delayed Starts or School Closures, please check the DPS Website and local news channels. We will do our best to send out a message from the school as soon as we are notified.

This week, we came together as a school community for an all school assembly focused on Curiosity and Connection. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage with one another and explore new ideas together. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by our students truly made this assembly special!

We are grateful for your continued partnership and support as we navigate the school year together. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community!

Finally, we are thrilled to welcome Mr. Neil Christensen as our new AN teacher! His enthusiasm and expertise will create a  significant impact on our students. Mr. Christensen brings a fresh perspective and a deep commitment to fostering a love of learning in every child he works with.

Warm regards,

Kimberly Ulery, Principal

Jose Fernando Hernandez, Assistant Principal

Staff Shout Out

This week has been full of celebrations. First of all, a huge shout-out to our K-3 students and staff for their incredible effort during DIBELS testing! This assessment is essential for understanding and supporting early literacy development, helping us nurture Knowledgeable and Reflective learners who grow their reading skills and confidence every day.

Thank you to Mrs. Rachel Barnes and Mrs. Leanne MacDonald, and the ACCESS testing team for their dedication to evaluating and supporting our multilingual learners. ACCESS testing plays a key role in assessing English language proficiency, ensuring we empower students to communicate effectively and grow as Communicators and Open-Minded global citizens.

Finally, a special thanks to our phenomenal IB Coordinator, Mrs. Melanie Schreiner, and the Student Council, for organizing tours for families visiting Bradley! Your passion for sharing our community’s strengths and values is inspiring. These tours truly embody the IB spirit, fostering Caring, Principled, and Inquirers who make Bradley an extraordinary place to learn and grow.

Thank you, Bradley Eagles, for showing us the power of commitment and collaboration! 🦅

Round 1 School Choice is open until February 18th. All ECE students will need to submit an application for next year. ECE 4 yr old families will submit the UPK application first and then the DPS School Choice application. Any 5th grade students who may want to attend a middle school that is not their neighborhood school, will need to submit a school choice application. Apply through your DPS Parent Portal or to the SchoolChoice Website.

Parking Around the School

Please be mindful of where you park when visiting the school. Be aware of parking in driveways and/or in front of the neighbor’s trash cans, and in the Bus Zone. Also, if you have a meeting first thing in the morning or in the afternoon, please do not park in the drop off area since it causes a traffic jam at drop off and pick up. Thank you for your cooperation.

News from the Nurse
It’s that time of year! Tummy bug and colds! Please review the How Sick is Too Sick letter for guidance. Thanks for keeping Bradley healthy!
January IB Learner Profile
The Learner Profile for the month of January is Balanced.  Those who are balanced understand the importance of intellectual, physical, and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others.

Activities for Parents

  • Encourage your child to participate in a wide variety of structured activities, such as soccer, Scouts, or ballet.
  • Discuss the food groups with your child and have them help plan a balanced meal.  Spending a few minutes during a mealtime deciding if what your family is eating is balanced is a good way to start a conversation about nutrition!
  • Let them help you grocery shop.
  • Your child has big eyes and big ears and notices everything you do.  Role model being balanced. Spend time as a parent or family doing many different things.
