Attendance Guidelines

Attendance Line: Please call the school attendance line to let us know that your student will be late or missing school at 720-424-9398.

Starting 2023-24 our attendance policies will be changing. Most notably, family trips and vacations will not be an excused absence. Also, please arrange for students to have their Dr. and Dentist appointments before or after school. We have had TOO many students missing school for appointments that can be scheduled after school hours. The end of school will be 2:40pm and should allow plenty of opportunity to schedule appointments. Attendance Guidelines.

Starting 2023-24 Parents can report absences to schools through the Parent Portal. Find the Instructions in English or Spanish.

School hours for 2023-24: 7:40am-2:40pm
After school enrichment hours for 2023-24: 2:50-4:00pm

Excessive absences will result in a truancy filing by the school. Habitually truant is defined as four unexcused absences in one month and/or 10 unexcused absences in the school year.

Bradley and DPS attendance policy follows the Colorado School Attendance Law. Based on this law only the absence reasons listed below will be marked as excused:

  • Temporary illness or injury (doctor’s note is not required until chronic)
  • COVID Quarantine
  • Physical, mental, or emotional disability
  • Legal custody by public agency
  • Religious holiday or observance
  • Death in the family

PLEASE NOTE: Under the Colorado School Attendance Law, family days and vacations taken while school is in session are not an excusable absence and are therefore recorded as unexcused.

If your student is absent during the school year please make sure to notify the attendance line.  If we don’t hear from you, guardians will be called on the day of the absence.

If your child is tardy, please have them come to the main office to get a late pass. Please make every effort to have your child to school on time. Arriving after 7:40am is a tardy. Please have your student here starting at 7:25am. Arriving late negatively impacts classroom instruction.

We will not dismiss students the last 15 minutes of school. During this last 15 minutes, classrooms are preparing for dismissal and calling students out causes a negative disruption in the classroom.

Please be sure to check your student in or out at the main office when they are leaving early, or returning during the school day.
