Principal Update

This week has been a whirlwind of exciting activities that showcase the heart of our IB community! On Monday our 1st Grade Potluck was a vibrant celebration of diversity, with families sharing delicious dishes from around the world. Additionally on Friday, the Playground Ensemble offered a unique opportunity for students to explore music fostering creativity and collaboration. On top of that, our 3rd graders have been busy applying their learning on motion and forces, demonstrating their ability to think critically and make real-world connections. These experiences truly highlight the power of the IB Learner Profile in nurturing inquisitive and thoughtful learners.

Staff Shout Out

We want to shout-out to our incredible Affective Needs (AN) team for the invaluable work they do every single day! This dedicated group of professionals continuously goes above and beyond to provide individualized support for our students, ensuring that each child has the tools and strategies they need to succeed. Through their commitment to inclusive education, they help create a school environment where every student—regardless of ability—feels seen, valued, and capable of reaching their full potential.

The work of the AN team aligns perfectly with the IB principle of creating a learning community that embraces diversity and promotes equity. By tailoring instruction and interventions to meet the unique needs of our students, they foster equitable opportunities for all. Their efforts not only help our students thrive academically, but also enrich their social and emotional development, allowing them to grow as caring, knowledgeable, and open-minded individuals.

Halloween

We’re excited to celebrate Halloween with our students on October 31! If your child would like to participate, they are welcome to bring a costume to change into at school to wear during the festivities. Please note, for safety reasons, we ask that costumes do not include weapons, facemasks, or face paint.

We will have a Halloween Parade that will take place on the blacktop starting at 1:30pm., featuring a fun “Thriller” dance performance by our students.

For students who do not celebrate Halloween, we will be offering an alternative activity in the library.

October IB Learner Profile
The Learner Profile for the month of October is Inquirers! Inquirers develop their natural curiosity.  They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning.  They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning is sustained throughout their lives.

Activities for Parents

  • Model being an inquirer.  Admit when you don’t know the answer to a problem or a question and work together to seek out answers.
  • There are many cultures and holidays that we celebrate throughout the school.  Research these topics with your child and learn about them together!
  • Visit a pumpkin patch and discuss the size and shape of the pumpkins. Talk about how pumpkins grow, what we can do with the seeds and all of the different types of pumpkins!
  • Visit a library to explore topics of interest for your child.
  • If age appropriate, when your son or daughter is using the internet, sit with them and    work to instill the understanding of which sites are reputable and safe.
